Specialty Care for the Sandhills
The LaFayette Clinic has a mission of providing the highest level of specialty care in allergy, asthma and rheumatology to the Sandhills region. Their offices are in Fayetteville, Sanford, Holly Springs, Laurinburg and Raeford.
Allergy and asthma services are provided by Dr. Joseph Follett and Dr. John Georgitis and are offered to patients of all ages. Dr. Follett trained in allergy and pulmonary medicine at Duke University Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Georgitis joined the clinic after a long-standing faculty appointment with Wake Forest University’s Department of Allergy and Immunology. He is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Both were named as top allergists for 2008 by Best Doctors, a national care-management firm.
Rheumatology is a field of medicine that deals with arthritis, diseases of the joints and systemic conditions like lupus. Dr. Gwenesta Melton and Dr. Maria Watson provide these services at LaFayette Clinic. Dr. Melton holds an adjunct staff position at Duke University’s Division of Rheumatology and is vice president of the North Carolina Rheumatologic Society. Dr. Watson trained in rheumatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Both are board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Rheumatology.
